  • how do u disable the speed limter on 3100?

I have a 96 beretta, 8.8 spark plug wires, no cat or resinator with a flowmaster, and a cai. this car shuts off at 106. does anyone know how to disable the speed limter. I will take the ecu aout and mod if i have to. i just want that thing disabled.

why? you run high 15's in the 1/4 so whats that....85mph?

i dont see a purpose other than street racing which is gay.

i hit around 90 and im goin to put a 62mm throttle body on which will nock me down to low 15s, then a programmer, and soon a s/c along with fuel injectors. it will run low 14s easy. now i might not not hit 106 but i dont want it there anyway.

Your not going to gain anything from just a larger TB. You need manifold work to even think about seeing a difference. Even then, you won't all of a sudden run low 15's.

To disable your speed limiter, you will need a DHP Powrtuner or something similar.

Small port 3100's are nice, but can't compete with the large port stuff or the 3500 stuff out now.

A DHP will allow you to tune for boost and remove the speed limiter. But please be careful/safe, don't push the limit of your tires either.

hu, my 95 beretta will run too 118 mph before it shuts off, this was at a track day i was able to attened at california speedway, i really don't recommend anything over 95 on an open freeway, plus if your busted over 100 it'ss up to the officer to impond the car for 30 days and take you to jail or give you a major fine. at least in ca.

If you plan on running around over 100 on the highway, you best prepare to outrun that cop as well.

speed limiters are in place to keep you from exeeding the tire rating and the suspention. i have driven my car with decent stock suspention and at 150kph (90mph) the thing was floating very bad and i wasnt about to go faster. now with everything new in my suspention (kyb struts, urethane bushings, sprint springs, addco swaybars) and some decent brakes, i would consider trying for 200km/h (im running stand alone), but id never do it on public roads.

unless you have a track that allows you to get to speeds in excess of your limiter, and you have suspention, brakes, wheels and tires that will handle the speeds, please dont disable your limiter.

...and put your cat back in you polluter! lol, no need to run without it on a street car. You can get a high flow cat for under $100 and it's like a 2hp difference.

You can order a powrtuner from partsforyourcar.com. Be prepared to do some learning though. It will let you remove the speed governor as well as tune everything else you need to make it run well on boost or NA. If you really plan on driving that fast though, I recommend you completely mod the suspension and brakes first. Every try a panic stop from 110mph? Please be safe and be smart.

well i ran a 15.6 at 89, so i dont see how u are going over 90 with the high 15s, and yah look at a 3400 swap and it will help alot more than the 3100 could, base line is better, and the ability to tune it for more power, and use alot of the parts that the store offers on here is another benefit

and yah NOx FTL, but the people over the north pole live with it...lol

well on drag times there is a 96 beretta that runs a 15.2, it has all the normal upgrades like exhaust, cai, wires, and plugs. but then it has a 62mm tb with a 3400 intake manifold. so thats what im looking at for a start. but i plan to s/c it eventually......and thanks for the link ill take a look.

*cough cough*PCM*cough cough*. You need a tuner. but the speed limiter is there for a reason...you should make sure you have damn good tires and brakes before you set the speed limiter higher(which is what you really want to do). Do you know what happens to cars when they crash at 150+mph? See I live around lots of country roads and no tracks and it maybe easy to speed BUT it is unnecessary and dangerous because while you may be going 120+...It doesnt take much to loose control. Street Racing=Bad. Parking Lot Parties=Good. Also removing the speed limitter doesnt add hp. Just a thought dont take offense.

i know that it is unsafe and i will use caution. i just dont like 106mph i did 120 in my old beretta and had no problems, i have 245/45/R17 dunlops ready to go on my rims.
