Nitrous, Cam, Seperation Angle...help

I currently have a comp cams 260. LSA 110 and both lifts are .440 w/ 100 shot. I believe the 260 has 4* advance ground into it.


My question is will the 110 LSA have me wasting my nitrous?
Is this LSA narrow enough to warrant a cam swap?

i have read my different forums on this and some say a 110-116 is good and others say 112/113 is the best.

114 is common for nitrous users. 2 different places gave me that same spec for a N/A with nitrous

Overlap is the problem and usually why they make the LSA so high... the 260 has 40 degrees of overlap. not excessive but probably not the best nitrous cam. It WILL work though.

Is there any way to change the overlap...aside from a new grind?

If you have a 3.4 DOHC, its easy. Otherwise, you have to get a new grind.

Overlap comes from the advertised duration of the cam VS the LSA


Calculation...

Intake duration + Exhaust duration / 4 - the LSA x 2 = the overlap


260+260= 520

520/4 = 130

130-110=20

20x2=40° of overlap

I wonder how well Milzy's stage 1 will work with nitrous... Hopefully I can cut the shot down to a 75 and still be making more power than before though.

No matter what I think you will make more the question is how much more. i just wen to the milzy site i didn't know those cams cost that damn much...is he serious.

Not to bring it up again, but... When I called Crower back in, 02?, to have a custom cam made for the 3100, it was going to be a min quantity of 3, $800 each (half up front before any work started), and 6-8 months for turn around. I opted to go for the $115 (at that time) regrind instead.

Man you guys get hosed like no other. Those damn roller cams hurt when It comes to custom work. See what they say now it is like 5 years later. They told me $200 for my engine. 3.2 mpfi non roller actually i told them it was for a 2.8.

why not just use the cams off the 60* store, custom grinds for $300 plus shipping, brand new cam...nice
