    Its certainly cheaper but its also MPFI, not SFI so you would have to convert your injector wiring. If you have a laptop, you can get everything to program and scan for under 150 I believe.

      the 700r4 from a vette will have a different bellhousing than the 3.4l, so it will not mate to it. you could get a 700r4 from a 3.1l camaro and use that.

        are there any tuners for the 3.1 V6 obd 1? i checked hypertech crap there...i need a laptop....lol...are there programs to tune the old 3.2 ecu?...if so what are they and where can i find them...i really want to make this thing work and i am trying to get all my research done before i start.....i contacted haltech about their piggyback system...we'll see what they have to say

            moates.net has the chip burner and the aldl cable. freescan is free scanning software you can use and tunerpro or winbin will work. We have the A1 document here as well as .ecu files for tunerpro or winbin. A1 is what you will want to use unless you can make a DF chip based on a 4T60-E work with the 4L60-E. I have no idea on that.

              well, a 4t60e uses 2 shift solonoids, a lockup solonoid, and a vss. 4l60e uses 2 shift solonoids, 1 lockup solonoid, a pwm 3-2 downshift solonoid, pwm pressure controll solonoid and a vss. id say no, a 4t60e pcm cant controll a 4l60e, not without serious code changes.

                  hmmmmm...the 4l60e was used in a 2.8 V6 in 93....would this ecm work?...is there tuning for it?...hell the heads on the 3.4 are the same ones used on the 2.8 trucks.....if the ecm can be tuned this might be something to look into as well...came out in the trucks and suvs one year before the cars got it

                    the 2.8l in the s-trucks is tbi, the camaro is mpfi (3.4l is sfi). that ecm could be used if you wanted to convert the camaro to tbi, but i dont see a point in that at all.

                        There was an ECM used in '94-'96 trucks that can support 4,6, or 8 cylinder engines, port (non-sequential), CPI, or TBI injection, and has the extra capability to run the electronic transmissions (4L60 and 4L80). It would require lots of tuning to work for this application , but might be easier than an aftermarket setup.

                          do you know which truck it was in?....and wether there are tuning options for it?...i decided to try on the forum here because you FWD guys seem to try off the wall things that work....i like looking at new options and trying something different but i want this top end swap to work...lol.....without spending 3000 bucks for an aftermarket ecm

                            There are several different ECM part numbers that are all pretty much identical internally (as far as I have been able to determine). They are 16196395, 16197427, and 16156930. There might be more, but these are the ones I am familiar with. They can be had pretty cheap on eBay if you are patient.

                            They were used on '93-'95 (not '94-'96 as I previously mentioned) trucks with 4.3 CPI or 5.7 TBI engines. They are from the P6 family of controls, and are the fastest GM OBD1 ECM's. They offer larger fuel and timing maps, integrated trans control, and faster datalogging than the earlier P4 ECM's.

                            There are bin hacks, definition files, and ALDL setup files available (just have to search for them). The tuning procedure would be the same as any other OBD1 chip ECM.

                                alright ...i got a complete 2000 model 3400 core motor...complate motor minus alternator and power steering pump....only 150 dollars...already checked the exhaust port.....d-port...yeah....first step in the swap out of the way....finding the parts...woohoo
