  • Cooling fan issues

..I own a 92GPSE, I'm having a problem with the primary fan, it's not working at all(to cool the engine at idle). If I sit at idle for a certain period of time the temp gauge will surge up to the red,so I'm forced to cut my heater on full blast to keep my engine cool.

I went to a machanic instructor at my school and we tested the fan motor and it works. Then he took out an primary fan fuse from on oldsmobile cutless and placed it in and let me drive it around and still nothing. I'm I missing or doing something wrong here

Probably the relay. Look at the fan relay. Find it, and then tap it with a screwdriver and see if the fan kicks on. It may not still. Take off the relay and inspect all the pins on it. If it looks like around one it's gotten hot, then it's bad. If not test it out on the workbench to be postive it's working.

If the relay checks out, then I have no clue, other than the ECT may be bad?
