  • what to do??

I started my car this morning and it sputtered about for a few minutes then it died and wouldnt crank back up. No fule pump or starter noise or lights would come on. Then I tried a few minutes later and crank right up only no alarm chirping. Only all the light on the dash were on and the speedo was jumpin up and down. I put in gear an light go off except brake and ABS. Car jerks a lot as I pull out of driveway and then I stop in front of house to see if trans fluid is low or leaking and car cuts off and wont restart. Trans fluid is leaking very nicely, and I think I blew a hose.

Come to find out that battery somehow had shifted forward and grounded out so I move it and the alarm goes off and car starts.

All lights on dash are off now... WTF??? Could the battery have shorted the computer?

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head. Up 'til you said about the car jerking I was thinking "bad ground" and I have heard of short-to-grounds messing with the drivablity. I would unfold a paper clip and "try" to pull any codes the computer may have and if there arent any try a new computer and see if you have any lights. If you do, then theres your problem (after you fix the battery hold down, of course).
Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

well as luck would have it, my 2,and 3rd opinions are telling me that the flashing lights is due to an alternator going bad. Which I'm starting to believe is true because the car is died again on Sunday. I did however discover that one of the fusible links on the negative side is gone out.

I'll update after I try these two things out...

my bad, that was the positive side where the fusible link went out. I checked them out this weekend and one was clearly melted.

Bummer, sorry to hear about this turn of events. Is a complete motor swap now in order?
