93 3.1 only starts once a day

i've been trying to get my 90 gp back on the road for a year now. i can't figure out what the problem is.

for a little background: the engine in my 90 quit. i bought a 93 gp wrekced for 200 bucks. the engine ran when i brought the car home. i put the 93 motor in and since i've only been able to get the car to start once a day.

i've replaced the plugs, wires, icm, and coil packs. i need to finish repinning my instrument cluster harness yet, so i don't know if the engine is throwing codes or not (i'm sure it is, though).

any idea what else could be my problem? for the one time it starts, it runs like brand new. i can drive it, but if i come to a stop sign or something it wants to stall.

Well let see Hmmmmm....

Check fuel pressure and see if fuel is getting into the cylinders. To check for wet fire, crank her up for 20 seconds, then immediatly check 4 or more spark plugs, if wet that is good. To check for spark pull one plug wire at a time to see or hear if it spark when starting. If the fuel pressure doesn't vary the regulator is bad, if little or no pressure is your reading then a intermittent problem with the fuel pump is possible.

Could be a the VSS and or the TPS.

Replace all you relays check for shorts or opens, check for vac leaks.

A code is really needed for a definitive answer.

Did you use the '93 PCM?

yes. i used the 93 engine and interior harnesses and the 93 pcm. the only differences are my steering column and interior. i swapped a 97 cutlass interior into my 90 gp.

Maybe a bad crank or cam position sensor? Can only find No.1 cylinder once? -shrug-
