This just started the other day and it is puzzling to say the least. The car is a '91 Camaro RS with 3.1L & 5 Speed, we've had the car for years and runs great. The other day I start the car and it is 'idling' at nearly 4K RPM. If I shut the car of and restart it a couple of times it will cease to run at high RPM but will also cease idling at normal RPM and actually winds up stalling.
Going down the road it runs fine, going through the gears is all fine. Sometimes at a traffic light it idles fine and other times it wants to stall. I removed the TPS and IAC and cleaned them, disconnected the battery for an hour to force the computer to reset (no error codes showed using the plugin tester). Thought it was OK until this morning I took it out and it seemed like it was fine until I turned into the driveway and the RPM shot to 4K again.
Has anyone else had anything even remotely similar to this happen?
