  • Help remove upper O2 sensor

I've soaked it with the best penatrate on the market while using the O2 sensor removal socket, and the upper O2 sensor on my monte 3.1 won't budge. I can't get a pipe wrench around it. There's plenty of room to work with it cause i'm replaceing the head gaskets. Suggestions welcome....Tom

Run it and get it Hot, this will help out.

You will need to have a tap ready for the pipe, as the threads will be messed up upon removal.

On mine, I stuck 1/2" extensions up to where I could get a breaker bar on it. The bar was bending and then it broke free, threads were ok thank god... LMAO I soaked it in PB Blaster for a couple nights. Soaking it good each day...

Using an impact gun might actually be better and help.... Less chance of breaking a tool or the manifold/O2 sensor/socket... The sudden shock/jarring of the impact breaks free rust...

mix ATF and acetone at a 50/50 mixture. that stuff works wonders for breaking through rust.

Chase the threads before installing the new o2 , I wrecked a wideband by not doing that.
