    Factory Contradiction: 84 E2SE TPS Voltage .26 or .31 ???

    This is in regards to a 1984 FBody VIN code '1' 2.8L V6 non-HO engine. Rochester E2SE Carb #17084632. This is an LC1 V6 107HP (it is NOT an LL1 125HP 2.8L V6). Partial vin is: 1G2AS8718ELxxxxxx

    My 1984 Firebird Factory Service Manual (FSM) lists three(3) different TPS voltages! I've eliminated 0.255 volts as an option. But I can't find any clues about whether it's .26 volts per the adjustment text or .31 per the specification table - both from the same 6E section.

    One
    ==================
    Section 6C3-30 "Carburetor Model E2SE" Lists:
    VIN Code B 2.8L 0.255 V
    VIN Code X 2.8L 0.310 V
    VIN Code Z 2.8L 0.255 V

    (=-0.1 volts)

    None of these VIN codes appear to match my Firebird - so I've tentatively eliminated .255 from the list of options.

    Two
    ==================
    Section 6E1-113 "Driveability and Emissions - Carbureted"

    Subsection: Throttle Position Sensor - E2SE Adjustment

    Step #5 lists "0.26 volts" "=-0.05 volts"

    Three
    ==================
    Section 6E1-183 "Driveability and Emissions - Carbureted"

    TPS Adjustment Specification Table:

    2.8L: 0.31 +-.1 Volts

    .26 + .05 = .31, making them both spec. It shouldn't be that specific anyway so I don't know what you are doing with the TPS. Is there a code or drivability issue?

      Hi

      I was setting or adjusting the TPS when I discovered the discrepancy in the FSM.
