  • Transplant Rockers

I got a set of used '03 3400 heads that, if I remember correctly, were pulled off a Montana. I had been waiting for use them for a project, but I found out my Head Gaskets were leaking in my '05 Impala.

Since I already had the '03s cleaned up I swapped those in place. When I started to put the Rockers back on, one of the holes stripped out (somewhere a little bit before 24in-lb).

The Rocker arm bolt is shot too, metal up further then I can get with a die. My question is, the other heads came with a set of Rockers. To my understanding, the rockers can go between each other '03-'05, correct?

I know they shouldn't be changed because of the wear, but unfortunately a new set is $$ I don't have at the moment and am on a dead line for 5AM tomorrow morning.

Is there an actual torque spec for the heads, other than 44lbs+95°? Or at least a safe one for a NA engine?

Rocker bolts were changed from 10mm to 8mm in 2004, so the rockers from the 05 head will not work on the 03 head.
