I've got three vehicles total, so this isn't a real urgent job I have to do.
But I took one of my Luminas (1997 3100 engine) on a long road trip one day about a couple months ago. It was a typical hot summer day. Car seemed to work as usual.
I stopped at a gas station, turned off car and heard bubbling. I popped the hood and notice a large amount of coolant in reservoir bottle and air bubbles coming out of liquid.
I assume the head gasket has a leak. I've already replaced the LIM a year or so ago.
I drive this car mostly around town, but it doesn't do the above on the short in town trips.
I guess my question is, is it time, or a good idea, to replace the head gasket? Or should I just wait for the motor to crap out.
Thanks for advice. Oh yeah, I put one of those metal fel-pro LIM gaskets in. Is it possible to re-use that if I had to replace head gasket?
