  • Question : Seafoam How to?

Forgive i have searched and i did find some info.

My daily is a 2000 3.1L Malibu, the car surges when accelerating slightly at highway speeds, i think it's the torque converter. Any way i think it could possibly be the injectors too, i was wondering if some one could tell me which vacuum line on the engine i could pour this stuff into? More specifically a location or a picture would be nice.

    TIA.

no way, thats way too big. You want it to be a slow process, so a smaller tube like the charcoal cannister purge or the fuel pressure regulator would be better. There should be either a vacuum line going to the upper intake near your alternator, or a plug that you can remove. Get some vacuum hose from a parts store to stick into the bottle.

There are many ways to Seafoam. 1) Brake booster line 2) Down the TB 3)Spray Deep Creep In the Cylinders(where the Spark Plugs are) 4)In the Gas Tank(For Injectors) 5) Pour In your new Fuel Filter.(For Injectors). So if you want your injectors cleaned go in the gas tank or get them professionally Cleaned.

what i was thinking is to put a 1/2 can in the fuel and then 1/2 can into the oil. (I'll change the oil immediately after, probably do a flush with some cheap oil). But i would like to use some kind of vacuum and then suck it in slowly and then let the car stall and let the seafoam soak for a bit. I would use about 1/2 can in through the vacuum.

            How does that sound?

use a full can for the vacuum line method. Doing it with the engine hot and then letting it stall out right before the can is empty is the best. Let it sit 10 min and then enjoy the smoke show as it tries to start....then does and runs poorly, to running it down the road at various throttle to get it cleaned out.

I wouldn't put it in my oil.

I've never felt the need for it, the additives in our gas must be good, cause the back of my original intake valves are shiny and clean. Pistons are black but smooth with no crusty build up.
