Left VS Right Manifold Gaskets

On an '84 2.8L V6 I'm curious having recently replaced these...

What exactly differentiates each side as far as the gaskets go? Can they be interchanged? What would happen if interchanged?

I don't know about your engine but the 3400 intake gaskets are exactly the same on each side.

I don't have them avail in front of me but I 'think' there may have been a difference in the size of the opening for the exhaust crossover port...? Other than that I don't recall any differences. But I think Felpro marked them LH and RH along with 'this side up' or something.

All that got me curious as to just what the significance was to LH vs RH gaskets...

Maybe the difference in gaskets affects EGR functionality?
