so i got this 86 fiero about 2weeks ago, been a little busy, so hadnt realy had time to "check into" the engine much, the oil gauge was pretty accurate(a bit bouncy but the way it pegs itself im sure that the sender), and the temp would stay pretty low, like ~120ish
i foundout the temp issue today, the thermostat was crushed, well...the U bracket thing aparently broke free from the stat on the one side, and the other side bent, so it was basicly running open. put a new stat- in, temps fine now, but i noticed it would climb to almost the red mark while idling (the fan is perm-on atm, the prevoius owner was 2lazy to change the switch so he hard-wired it on), if i hit the throttle, it will quickly drop back to normal, anyone have any ideas on this issue?
the next is i hooked a fuel and vaccume gauge up just to see how things are sitting, the fuel was at about 36, and droped slightly when i hit the throttle, is that normal? i though it should raise a bit? possibly bad regulator? when i got the car the vac line to the regulator was unpluged and the T connector for it from the manifold had a plug in it.
as for the vacuum, the gauge goes from about 18-21lbs wont hold steady, once the car warms up, it getts a slight rough idle, i pulled the cap off, the cap and rotor look pretty new (as does the wires), but the distributor was a bit rusty inside, and the coil looked to have a good bit of age on it, i wouldnt have been too worried about htat cept it did itself a nice exhaust pop when i let off the gas from reving it to about ~3k while checking the fuel/vac (it currently has no muffler on it)
am i being paranoid about the fuel and vac, or is it something i should look more into?
