Ive seen some pics of 3.1ls and i was wondering how you guys clean up the intake/ valve covers. My intake and throttle body are all oxidized and the vavle covers were painted but dont match the car so i want to try and clean it up a little before i get it in the car.

The steel wool wont scratch up the surface either. I've used it to clean up gasket surfaces. It is so fine, it gives it a factory appearance again, and not a trace of scratches. On a rough surface like the grooves on the plenum, it will be used up fast though. I think my 8 or 12 pack cost me around $3 at Meijer?-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

can't wait to see pics.
The intake on my old 2.8 was so oxidized that I had to do something with it. I ended up using a flapper wheel on a drill to smooth it totally out, and then used finer and finer grits of sandpaper until it was totally smooth, and had a mirror finish to it. I then painted it all BLACK and left the raised parts mirror. It looked really good.
