  • External fuel leak at the FPR, have ?

I have a 2000 buick century with a 3100. My wife drives in and she started to complain of smelling gas... A few days go by and its now worse and easy to spot. Fuel is leaking right where the fuel pressure regulator mounts to the fuel rail. Still runs fine and its sending no codes...

Question is: Is there just an O-ring in where it mounts to the fuel rail that can be changed? Seems like its just the seal and not the regulator, no fuel comming out the to vac line.

Also the book says to remove the upper intake and the fuel rail to change the regulator, is that necessary or can it be done with the engine intact?

Yes it's an O-ring IIRC. Odd that the o-ring would fail like that though I've loosened mine up to move it to clear my 3500 plenum and moved it around and the o-ring never leaked.. (lucky)

You can loosen the bracket that holds the fuel lines down and should be able unbolt the FPR and pull it out of the rail and change the o-ring. Just follow the metal line back from the FPR until you see the bracket.

Thanks, I actually just got home from doing the work, That bracket is a pain in the ____ to get off where its at. It was the o ring, has a nice little cut in it, not sure how it happened though, I have never moved it before. I just undid some of the vac lines and electrical connectors in the area, and took off the air inlet and it was pretty easy to do with the upper intake still attached.
