  • 1989 cutlass supreme 2.8 removal

Hi, I have a 1989 cutlass supreme that i got for cheap that supposedly needed only headgaskets. well, it turns out a main bearing is bad and i need to replace the motor, i already have the intake and cylinder heads off along with all the accessories and as far as i can tell, i have unbolet the from engine mounts and tajken 6 bolts out of the transmission to engine bellhousing but i can seem to get the engine out. Every book i have read tells me to undo the torque converter bolts but i cant see them so how can i undo them. If anyone can give me some advice that would be great, pictures of what im doing wrong would be even better. if anyone is in the phoenix area and would want to help me even better, i just want to get this engine out so i can put a new one in.if anyone needs pictures of what i have done so far let me know and i can take some, thanks, jeremy

The three torque convertor bolts can be removed by:
    1) Remove the starter
    2) Use a socket to rotate the crank to bring each bolt to the starter opening

After removing the bolts, push the convertor towards the transmission to disengage the locating hub to allow more clearance for engine removal.
