  • LIM to head question

So I have a set of Gen 3 heads and I was given what I was told was the large port Gen 3 LIM. What I think I got was the 3400 LIM. I think I read somewhere that the 2000+ heads work with the 96+ 3400 and the 2000+ 3100. Am I correct?

From 00+ the 3100 heads and the 3400 heads were the same.

I know from 2000+ they are the same, but I think the one I was given is older. The intake I was given looks like the one in the middle. Will this work with a set of Gen 3 heads?

3400 (all years) is large port/whatever same as 2000+ 3100 intake and heads.

An older (pre 99) 3400 LIM will have a threaded fitting for the coolant pipe. Other than that they should be the same.

UIM will have different EGR mounting depending on year.

The one in the middle is from a 3100 94-99. Small port. It can bolt up to the 3400/2000+ 3100 heads, but the flow is crap-tastic compared to the large port manifolds. It is a gen 3 manifold, but not a large port.

I'd hold off and find some large port lower and upper as the power is worth it. (btw you must use large UIM with a large LIM. Cant mix). If you cant tell by the port shape (small port is more round/oval, large port is like rectangle with rounded corners.) Count how many bolt holes are on the top for the UIM. The large port will only have 6 bolts for the upper to bolt on.

I bet someone on here could tell you what heads you have with the casting #'s probably. Also do the heads have roller fulcrum rockers?

Wow that sucks. How much of a difference does it make?

Well its not a HUGE difference, but you cant port out the 3100 small port anywhere close to the stock openings of the 3400/largeport 3100 stuff. Im swapping off my 94 small port stuff for the larger ones

No, if you have roller rockers you dont have to worry about clearance problems.
