  • 1993 gp, 2.8/3100 hybrid, coolant line routing ?

ok, so i am allmost finnished porting my heads ( intake is at 60 grit, and exhaust is at 60, waiting for 120, then gotta figure out what to use to polish em up )

and im looking at my engine bay and mocking up my heads and intake, when i noticed, i have no idea where i should run my heater core lines to

i've read where cavy guys use a 99 montana lower rad hose.
does this hose have the split off in it for a heater core line, or to run it to the left side line that comes off the intake manifold??

im kinda lost as to where i should route my lines lol

my intake has the coolant line running inbetween the lower and upper intake manifolds that routes, when looking at the motor from the front of the car... right side, and goes left
then i have what looks like a clip in style on the right that points to the firewall

can anyone help me out here, i dont have any pictures or anything, sorry.

    thanks

On my buddies Cav. We took the hole in the intake manifold and tapped it for and NPT 45* elbow and a short hose made a straight shot to the core. The other side of the core attaches to the metal tube on the front of the engine. We just used a long hose and went around the tranny side.

The Montana lower rad hose is used for teh upper rad hose in the J-body.

I usually tap the lower intake just like BTY, and either make a heater core tube or modify an existing one.

On the 3400 there are the same number of connections fr the heater core, they are just sometimes in a different location than the 3.1, depending on the platform.

The heater core lines connect at the "coolant tree" that is attached to the front cover above the H2O pump, the other side of the heater core attaches to the tube that is connected to the lower intake just behind the T-stat.

What platform is this going in?

The J-body guys use a late model 3.1 lower rad hose, because the later 3.1 and the genIII front cover use the smaller water pump inlet, 2" IIRC.

ok, its starting to make sense know, i just figured "whats the point of having the heater core lines so close to each other"
kinda seems like it wouldnt flow very much through the heater core lines seeing as the inlet and outlet are so close
        but i guess it works

the setup is going into a 1993 grand prix w-body

i'll get some pics whenever i can get a hold of a camera, and i have internet once again so i can post it

        thanks for the help
