  • 1990 2.8 Convert to V-Belt

Hi all, First post. please don't kill me. lol.

I have a 1990 TBI 2.8v6 With a serpentine belt setup from a 4x2 S10... What I want to do is convert it to a carbureted intake, and V-belt pulleys, and use a 4x4 oil pan and pick up. The carb part is pretty simple, and I already have a Weber carb I intend to use.

I'm getting confused though. The engine came with a reverse rotation water pump, so I need to change the timing cover. Will I be safe in assuming 1986 and newer is needed for the front cover and oil pan? Or should I look for 87+ Just to be safe? Also will a Camaro water pump and pulleys keep the length down on the front?

Why, I'm making this monumental step backwards in technology? I own a Chevette, lol.
Working...
