  • distributor types?

Is there a difference between a TPI controlled distributor and
    a TBI controlled one ?
    I have a 88 fiero that I'm installing a k&f blower on
I was thinking of replacing the ecm with a TBI ecm(s-10 v6)
make a new harness tap the old sensors and use a TBI
seems a nice way to go and still keep my emissions
plus I pick up a knock sensor input
    any thoughts?

Um why? MPFI is a much better system. Oh and you do not have TPI injection (as in the ones like the camaro) But to answer your question the distributor is the same.

its a lot easier to install a tbi than fabricate from scratch a TPI style injection for a blower
plus i get a knock sensor which is huge plus if yer boosting
I looked under the hood of an 88 s-10 last night and got all my answers
thanks for the reply wish me luck

What blower are you using? The Fageol, B&M or a Centrifugal type?

Ok yea never herd of it.

But I can tell you now that using a TBI with any blow through type of forced induction is a big no no unless you contain the TBI in a sealed box like they used to do with carbs.

              k&f was fageols old name
thats how I found it on ebay, the unit was rebuilt and came with the intake
I have 4 inches of clearance on top of the blower for something?? before I cut the hood
I was thinking of horzontally mounting 4 TPI injectors and using a late eighties tpi(camero) throttle body
since the fiero injectors are batch fired the injector #s just has to be even
but it seems that an 88 s-10 TBI ecm uses the almost same pin out as my ecm so.. swap ecms and add a 4.3 TBI on top might be easier gotta go measure a TBI this morning to check clearance
