Why doesn't the intake work well in the configuration you propose? Because it's designed as a DRY FLOW intake, remember that, it's important. The fuel when introduced into a large plenum above runners that are spread out like they are in the gen 3 660 intake do not support a wet flow system well at all. The fuel does not stay in suspension and ends up puddling in the upper intake, which cause rich spikes once enough fuel has accumulated, which then causes the engine to run poorly, even just briefly.
I don't see why the vehicle would have to be down for weeks, to go MPFI, it would likely take LESS time to just go MPFI from the get go, than to try to this TBI on top of the gen3 intake plan of yours. If anything it would take mere hours longer changing over to MPFI from TBI, not weeks, not even days.
Lastly, if there was a dizzy that would clear the intake even from another vehicle people would already be using them.
