  • Casting numbers

I have done a few quick searches and haven't come up with any definitive info yet.

I have an 03 Malibu 3100sfi I just pulled it out and the casting code on the block is L37
    and the heads are 247

I purchased an engine supposedly from a 2003 malibu, everything looks identical they are both 3100sfi motors. All external accessories have same part numbers but the engine that I am going to put in has the engine block casting code of L28 and the heads are coded 203

I am short on time right now but will research this some more later tonight. Any info and assistance is greatly appreciated.

Probably not casting codes that are useful, just for the foundry.

      Casting numbers

Kinda what I figured because L37 code that we know of shows up as a v8 "shortstar"

I quit giving a shit when I couldn't find anything.

Valve train and top of the motor is super clean. It's only supposed to have 85k. But it sat for a few years and when I went to drain the oil it was sludged. So I will be dropping the oil pan today and cleaning the bottom of the motor and the pan and the pickup tube. Then it will get new plugs and wires. And it's getting dropped in and started today.

are you just posting the last 3 of the whole casting number? Those numbers don't ring a bell...

If it's a 3100, and the LIM has a 00 on it or higher then you are good to go.

Just realized I forgot to post the pics. LIM is 00 on both motors.
