As we all know I've been looking for an updated ecm for my '87 Celebrity VR 2.8. Today I found an '89 Olds Cutlass ciera cruiser wagon in the boneyard (dont know why its there, looks to be in really good shape! ). The engine and everything appear identical to my car.
The question I'm asking is would this car have the updated software and secondly, will it interchange with my car?

Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

I don't know if the platforms are the same, but as for the updated software, you would have to get the 4 letter BCC (BroadCast Code) off of the chip. If you have access to chip burning hardware you could download the latest calibration for your car and burn it to your stock chip after UV erasing it. Or, buy a chip from Ben since he uses the newest calibration as your base code for your chip.
