  • 3500 upper dogbone mount

I am putting a 3500 into my fiero and am deciding if i want to low mount the alternator and put a dogbone high like the factory fiero set-up, or if i want to leave alternator alone and make a low engine mount.

My main concern is that the high dogbone would only be bolted to the aluminum head. I am also planning on boosting later down the road.

Could the added stress on the aluminum head make for a head gasket eating engine?

    Thanks,
    Blake

Get a dogbone bracket from a W-body or a van or SUV (Rendezvous, for example). It is super heavy duty, and bolts to the side of the head as well as on the block.

I saw those in a yard and was considering them. The passanger side mount bolts to head and block, but driver only bolts to head.

I was steering away from this though because it looks like it wound interfere with the stock 3500 manifolds or a set of headers, but I could probably mod it to work. Also, I would think that it would still be applying a fair amount of force to the aluminum head... But idk...just speculating.

      Thanks for the recomendation.

Does anyone know if the passenger dogbone would bolt up to the aft facing side of the motor?
