Engine died in middle of intersection.
Tried to turn it over, and it just turned over like there was no compression. I'm not a pro, but the sound is pretty obvious, and that's the first thing that came to my mind, and my brothers when he heard it.
Anyway, changed chain and cam gear (don't think it needed it, but i was in there anyway). Chain Guide was chewn away completely on the right side, old chain was 1/4 inch longer than the new. Dropped the pan and cleaned all the crap out.
Installed new guide, gear, chain, and engine turns over with the same "higher speed" sound as when it died (disapointment).
I've had conficting answers, but I gotta believe that the engine is an interference type, and that I bent some valves big time. About to run compression tests.
Anyone know for sure?
Thanks.
PS: the 3.1 is distributorless, and I'm damn sure I've got the timing marks right.
