  • Where do these bolts go please..

If ya haven't guessed I'm re-assembling from the heads on up my 1997 3100. As for these bolts I know one of this type bolt goes on the head to support the dip-stick. Where do the others like this bolt go? Also, here's a 2 foot long wrapped wire connector with different females at each end and it lays between the lower block and the backside exhaust downpipe. I can see a wire loom clamp at this location on the transmission where this wire used to go. What will these electrical ends go to upon re-assembly.
    Thanks for all your help..........Tom

I think the bolts are for the ICM, and the wire, if twisted, sounds like it could go between the 7x crank sensor and the ICM.

Yes, yes, yes. The stud/bolts are screwed into the top of the head at the exhaust ports on the rear bank to support the ICM bracket. If you line up the ICM bracket with it's upper holes on the intake you will see which two holes the studs go in above the exhaust ports.

Thank you. I'll be asking more of you all as i go back up with this 3100 engine. I'd still need to know what this wire connects to

Is it not the 7x trigger wire, as I stated above?

True my friend it is not the 7x trigger wire, but you only said it could be, which is as good as "a drunk guy in a bar once told me.....no worries.......Tom

Well, that's the only wire I can think of that has a 3-pin connector on one end and a 2-pin connector on the other.

I'm with Brad on this one and have never seen a 2p/3p wire for anything except the CPS (on the rear of the block) to ICM. Are three connectors already plugged into the ICM? The CPS to ICM cable has two twisted wires in it that are usually purple and yellow. What are the wire colors in that one?

It is the CPS sensor wire. It's a 2 pin at the block sensor and a three pin at the ICM.

There is only ONE wire on these motors that has a connector at each end and not part of a sensor, or the wiring harness, or injector harness.

3 pin in the ICM and the 2 pin must plug into another end perhaps wrapped up in this wire loom...see pic.

I will say it again, the two pin plugs into the crank sensor on the back of the block, not to the harness. This is a sensor to ICM connection it does not plug into the engine harness.

And you are correct. Just can't remember disconnecting at the crank sensor (2 pin) nor would i need to disconnect it to replace head gaskets. Oh well. It's on now.......Thanks again........Tom
