  • EGR Valves. LX9 engine swap from LA1

    Here is some information regarding EGR valve differences between a 2005 LX9 and 1999 LA1 engines.

    1999 LA1/3.4L EGR Valve, Delphi Part # EG10022
    2005 LX9/3.5L EGR Valve AC Delco P/N 2142018.

    Both EGR valves use 5-wire connectors. But the connectors are not interchangeable.
    The valves function the same and have the same wiring, but an orange and tan wire is used in the 2005 LX9 EGR valve, and a red and a black wire is used in the 1999 LA1 EGR valve. When using a 1999 LA1 engine harness, a 2005 EGR connector needs to be used.

    So are the wires in the same locations, it's just the plug doesn't snap in?

      A, Egr Control
      B, Egr Ground/Low Reference
      C, Egr pintle position
      D, Egr 5v Ref
      E, Egr Feed
      As of April 2
      3rd Gen Cavy has 3500 Installed!

      Trans: 2002 Getrag F23 5speed
      Pcm: 2001 Impala La1 3400 with complete Engine Harness.
      Injectors: #36 GTPs
      TB: 65mm TCE
      Maf: 1999 3400 Montana.
      Adjustable TCE Fuel pressure Regulator
      Walbro W1 255 pump from Racetronix.
      Beverages: Ice Cold CANADIAN.

        on my 96 I had to reverse the EGR plug and it plugs right in the new egr (3500 egr)

          When I reversed the plug, it fit, but did not clip onto the retainer, and then the wires were in a backward order. I tried getting the pins out, but even using a pin extractor, I couldn't get the pins to come out the top. I had the right connector from the 3500 harness, so it was s easy to splice and solder the wires and have the connectors fit perfectly.
