I'm sure many of you may know about these already, but I was digging through a salvage yard the other day looking for spare parts from 60 V6's and I popped a cars hood and I noticed the valve covers were black, I naturally thought they were really dirty, but it turns out the were composite or plastic?!? I thought this was extremely cool. They don't give any gains obviously but I think they are sleek looking and as a pair they are 1.2 lbs. lighter then stock aluminum covers. If anyone is interested in my find I got mine out of a 1993 Buick Century, kind of wierd but I guess it was a heavy car. Anyways had to share that cus I've never seen anything like those.

Good point but I wrapped my headers so I think they'll be fine. The covers should cut down on heat transfer a little.1998 Chevy M VIN Mali LS with 99 Olds J VIN 3100 Swap

They had plastic covers on early 3100's until 95 or so. My 94 when I bought it came with aluminum though, but the guy who owned it his dad worked at a GM dealer so it got cared for. They leak and suck basically.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Yea they had issues with them. If they were not a reliability issue GM would have surely kept the cheaper plastic covers rather that changing to cast aluminum.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

If it was a '93 Century it had the 90* 3.3L V6, which is based on the 3800. I don't know that those covers will work on 60* engines.Kaiser George IX: 1996 Buick Century Special wagon. 213-SFI. 250k miles. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down.
