  • Battery relocate gone wrong?

    2002 GA GT Here

Just moved my battery to my trunk and now I have no electric start and alarm rarly works.

    What I did...
I just ran 4 gage amp wire from the hood to the trunk, 2 lines.
I just boltes the wires to the existing battery terminals.
Then taped up the terminals so they dont short out if they touch something
Did I do this wrong? Is this not the right way?
Should I be connecting somewhere else, and not the existing terminals?
Any help would be great thanks guys.

Your setup should work but it isnt ideal. You can run just one line from the starter terminal to the positive cable on the battery in the trunk. Ground the negative terminal in the engine bay to a GOOD chassis ground and you can do the same with the negative terminal from the battery in the trunk.

How did you connect the terminals?

You may have just cleared out the presets, you may have to see you dealer or read your owner manual to reset them.

I just used steel threaded bolt and nut to conect them, so after hearing im supposeed to connect the starter t=direct, Imk thinking I just dont have a good enough conection for my remote start, cause it tries to crank overbut then dies, but manuel start always works. Thanks guys you comfirmed exactly what I suspected, but I wasntsure.

        Thanks
