  • Newbie question about venture '98 engine.

    Hi!
My Name is Andreas and I live i Sweden.
I currently own a Chevrolet Venture 1998 and I just love the engine. It has plenty of power and its very fuel efficent!

I'm thinkin of putting a engine like that in a fulsize chevy pickup (c1500). Does the engine fit on a RWD automatic transmission???

In that case I also wold like to add som compression to the engine (11:1 - 12:1) and run it on E85 (etanol). What is the esieast way to do this???

Don't know about the E85 conversion. I think the E85 will destroy the gaskets on the engine over time.

I don't think the engine has enough power for a full sized truck, but back in 93 they used a 3400 in the Camaro, but I'm pretty sure it was a different generation than the 3400 in your Venture

The 3.4 in the camaro had 1st gen iron heads, and only made 160hp. The 3400 is more powerful due to the aluminum heads and intake manifolds. You may run into starter mounting issues with the RWD trans, but you could always do a hybrid and put 3400 heads on a 3.4 RWD block.
