  • You won't belive this!

So I picked the E-bay engine up the other day, and finally got around to geting it of of my neighbors truck and into the garage. As soon as it was on the engine stand to see if the clams of a less then 300 mile motor were true or not. Boy was I surprised when I pulled the valve cover and found this, and there was more in the oil pan, even in the other head. So WTF could this be, seems like a rather odd thing to have in your engine?

      Weird.

Also, are those 60* rockers? In the pic, they closely resemble 3800 rockers.

It is a newer 3500 that I got off of ebay for $150, it was out of a crash test car I think. But I have no idea why someone would put what looks to be small b-b's in an engine.

Return the motor and get your money back. He screwed you. Looks like ball bearings or buckshot. File a dispute while you have time. Be glad you were smart enough to check it out before installing it and wasting that time.

Well, I kinda doubt that I am going to spend another $100 bucks on gas to go drop it back off. But so far the engine seems to be in great condition. I don't even see how it could have run with this stuff in there, but its weird that it is all over the place.

that's crazy... are they plastic or metal?

i'd get all that junk out and keep the engine for sure, you should be able to get it running w/o too many problems and it'll make plenty of power.

Well, if you're gonna keep it , at least pull the heads and make sure that crap isn't in the cylinders too. I'd pull the oil pan as well. At least put a call into the guy you got it from and ask him wtf is up with that. Oh, and I'd make HIM pay for my gas to return it. That's just me. GL with your engine.

it isnt something gm would do with just the crash cars, or maybe a prototype engine is it? iv heared that ford use to do stuff to mess there prototype or (factory freak) engines up after testing them. lol. probably not possible. but what the hell could it be? especialy with it being in a newer engine...
