  • Converting to TBI

Does anyone know of any issues converting a 2.8 carb engine to a TBI. In replacing the engine in my 88 Jimmy, going to use a 1985 engine that has a carb. (Thanks for the information on the 83) Also will the 88 2.8 oil pan bolt up to the 85?

If the body you're putting it in had a tbi you should be ok as you already have an electric pump and electrics for it. The '85 has a fuel pump which will have to be blocked off. The '88 pan won't work. The '85 engine was no different than the '83, if you mean the crank. Crank got stronger in '86 with a one piece seal. Read some of the "Family Tree" docs and wikipedia has some good evolution material (not creational, lol).
