  • Engine diagram

Greetings, New to your site. I am teaching my 14 year old auto mechanics and we are in the process of an engine swap in an 1988 GMC Jimmy. I was wondering if anyone has an exploded view of the engine and where accessories attatch? If it were an old GM small block or an MG I would be fine from memory, but this engine is new to me and some items have been removed. Any help would be appricated.

If you don't get any quick responses (ie, ~24 hrs), send a PM to betterthanyou, as I think he would probably be the best to have a diagram for a RWD truck.

And welcome to the site!! I know when I started helping my dad when I was 11, I gained alot more knowledge (and a few more words ) than I think I would have just doing everthing on my own. I plan on getting my girls involved in car maintenance as soon as possible to help them out in the future, even if its just enough to keep them knowledgable when a mechanic tries to BS them into something. If the wife was more open minded, one (if not both) of my daughters would be involved with racing as soon as they were old enough. My parents had already planned on sponsoring them .

I would gladly help out if I could find my damn factory service manual. When I do I can add it to my server.

Check your library for manuals. The Helm manuals are the real OEM publications.
