  • Questions re a 91 3.1 Lumina and ading a 4t60e

    Hello Everybody!

I heard about this site from Pennocks, very nice place you all have here

I have searched and searched, but cannot seem to find the info I need...

I have a Fiero that I am going to be putting a 3.1 from a 91 lumina into.

The 3.1 currently has all of the "fiero" stuff, ie: intake, distributor, etc... installed on it. It runs off of the 2.8 computer at the moment and is mated to the 5-speed transmission.

I am going to be putting this engine in my car, but i plan on installing a 4t60e.

My question is this: Will the wiring harness and sensors, and etc... from a 93 Lumina bolt on to the engine? I would like to run it as a DIS engine. As far as I can tell, only the 93 lumina had the option of the 4t60e... and it was a DIS engine only...

If there is some other car i can get the wiring from, please let me know!

I am okay with runnign a distributor, but really need a computer to run the engine and 4t60e trans...

any and all help is greatly appreciated!

To the best of my knowledge, the ONLY engine that had any wiring different was the 2.8.

The first year I saw with a 4T60-E was 1991 (but I think it was in a twin cam car).

I know that The Cutlass Supreme in 1993 came with the 4T60-E.

As for the wiring, the trasmission wires were on the BODY side of the wiring, and not the engine side. I pulled an engine wiring harness from a 1993 Lumina to install on my 3100 in my 1988 cutlass Supreme and it did not have the transmission stuff.

As for using the wiring, from 1989-1993 the 3.1 MPFI wiring harness for the engines are all pretty much the same. The only real differance I have seen in like the W-bodies will have the TPS and IAC wires in the engine harness, but the N bodies will have it on the car wiring, etc. If you get the wiring from a Lumina, Cutlass Supreme, or Grand Prix, it will all bolt up the same and have no real differances. The only differance I can think of would be with a 1994 3.1 MPFI from the LUMINA. I don't know too much about that one seeing that it was the only 1994 carried over.
