a brand new tranny is going to be hard to come by, most shops just get a rebuild kit, and they work like new (most of the time) youd be wasting dough on a factory fresh tranny, that could hook up a nice rebuilt tranny.

the shop i work for never deals in reman or brand new units. we rebuild everything. see an oem new or oem reman tranny is built back to factory specs. this isnt always a good thing, as they dont get the aftermarket updates that make them last longer and perform better.

i would find a local shop and have them rebuild your tranny. you could also get them to build it more for what you are doing, and even get a higher stall converter.

my little brother got a gm remanufactured trans for his 95 cutlass for right around $1600 with a 3 year warranty. They also claim to have the updates included in them. i was wondering if anyone makes them cheaper than GM, with a warranty. i have rebuilt 2 and something different blows out everytime.

I can get you a GM unit for $1200 + tax

GM faxed me at the dealer here, 5 pages of engines and transmissions on sale to clear out at the warehouses, Lots of Gen II 3.1 and 2.8's for $800 brand new long block assemblies. Lots of other engines and trans as well I posted up on the v6z24 site a while ago.

Also the warranty on GM engines and transmissions now is 3 years or 160,000 km's
