4T60 Transmission Problem

I just put in a new transmission & motor in my 1994 Olds Cutlass Convertible. I only have manual shift, 2nd. & 3rd. No first & No overdrive. Speedo does not work...RPMS at idle are higher than they should be...Can anyone HELP....."Going Crazy"

Hey John! Welcome!

From what you told me today, I suggest, as a start, to put back the stock chip. See if that helps. 94 and 95 are unique.

you will actualy have a 4t60e, big difference.

get your speedo working, this is likley the problem. it sounds like the car is in limp mode. the ecm needs to know how fast the car is going to determine when to shift. if it has no speed signal, it cant figure it out, so the ecm puts it in limp mode, 2nd gear.

there could be other issues, but resolve that first.

um, i couldnt tell ya, im the transmission guy, not the obd1.5 guy

take the chip out and try it first.

the couple year only bastard engine management system between OBD1 and OBD2.

its basicly an obd2 diagnostic plug and an obd2 style chip and pcm, but its obd1 programing.
