  • Modification of Getrag 284 clutch line?

I'm wondering if I can modify the clutch line to braided stainless or regular steel line? Can I remove the accumulator (or whatever that metal body is in the line close to the slave cylinder)? I remember reading somewhere before that removing it improves clutch feel and performance but if that's the case then why is it there?
Every hydraulic clutch line I have seen has only had the piston assembly and reservoir, and steel line between it and the slave cylinder.

Clutch lines often have accumlators or restrictors in them to aid in driving and clutch comfort. For most street driving this is nice to have. But things like a restrictor or accumulator may cause clutch slipage when the pedle is rapidly released during racing or hard driving.
