How well will a 282 hold against my 3.4 DOHC?

My 4t60 is about to die so im wanting to swap in a manual, will the 282 be enough? Do I have to beef it up first to handle my heavy 94 GTP?

282 is fine with a DOHC in a fiero, but with the weight of the car I would imagine you will need to upgrade it as best as you can. Why don't you just buy brians 94 GTP that already has a 5 speed in it?
