3t40 only shifts at redline

well like the title says my 3t40 will only shift when it reaches its maximun spped in that gear. i was driving and it all of the sudden started doing this. i got the tranny from a j/y and when i first installed it a year ago it did the same thing and then it just started working fine, but now its doing it again and it wont work fine. any suggestions? ive already changed the fluid and filter and put a good expensive additive in it. thanks.

check to see if your throttle cable going to the tranny is hung up. if its stuck at full throttle, it could cause this. if not, you may have something jamming up the throttle valve in the valve body.

yeah ive already checked the t.v. cable and when i take it off the car shifts but it still has to rev up a bit, and ive taken the whole cable off and checked it and the tension and it seems good, but the transmission makes some screwed up nosies, i was driving the car really easy when this happened, so i dont kno whats going on.
