1800 doesn't suprise me at all. Although I'm not sure, I was told that mine was like 1898 or something like that...I don't know why they wouldn't just say its a 1900 though if it is.

btw that 2800 stall comes from a '90 Cutlass, I have a hookup that can get them for about $100 if anyone wants one.

Is that from a '90 quad4 or from a 3.1? And if it is from a 3.1 is that specification the same for '89 2.8/3.1?

Quad or not...they should adapt to the 4t60(e). The TCLock up meterial is different though.

YOu can take advantage of a stalled converter with gears. No sence in runing 2500 stall on a 3.05 gear on a heavy car. The theory of stalled converter is to get as close to the engines peak tq. for better takeoffs. Pass the engines tq with a over stalled converter and performance will suffer alot. High stall with low gears(3.05) and on a heavy car and it will feel "jerky" or harsh. Not to mention the torque converter will heat up the trans oil faster. Just a caution.
88 Beretta GTU turbo . 90 Black ASC/McLaren TGP, awaiting 4t80. 2003 Grand AM se 3400/4t45 daily grind.

Yep, im well aware of that, I want a 2800 stall converter to complement my t65 build which will include 3.69 gearing. With a 3400 that should put me right where I want to be power wise at the launch. The trick will be learning how todo it with out braking the tires loose like mad. I still need alot of pratice launching

what about the 4t40 or the 4t45, in the newer N bodys? I've got the 3.29 factory gear ratio. would that stall be to high?
