  • urgent trans interchange info needed - 2004 to 05?

wife's 05 rendezvous puked the trans. the cooler line rusted out at a clip(rest of line is perfect), she drove for a week before noticing spots everywhere she parked. i was working out of town, it's toast. barely 1-2 shifts, slipping like crazy, and the fluid is toast.

mom wrecked her 04 rendezvous. trans is perfect. we bought it back from insurance co for parts.

vehicles are identical except for paint color. same trim level, same options, same 3400 engine. will the 2004 transmission work in the 2005? i'm having a hard time finding interchange info.

do the 3 letters on the trans tag match? i'm seeing 2 possible versions for 04 and 05, BCB and CXB.

if they match, i would say it would work. the difference between the two may be FWD vs AWD, but i'm not 100% on that.

i looked on the hollander website and the only vehicles they're listing are 2005's. wonder what the difference is, if any

edit - 2 guys who work at gm dealers told me they come up different, not what is different but just that they are different.

i'm torn between trying it or just finding an 05 trans. if i try and it does not work, i'm boned and need to tear it apart twice. but i KNOW this one works, and any junkyard unit has to be suspect.

it might be a gear ratio change at most or a feature such as "winter" mode aka trans killer button or even a converter change.
