  • Transmission questions for a 95 grand prix 3100

not sure what the tranny model # is for my car? what is it?

my tranny has 76k on it. i'm doing a full tranny flush on it soon, and i want to mod it if possible.

are they any shift kits for it or anything?
whats a good cheap tranny cooler that will work with my tranny?
    any other ideas?

what color is your trans fluid? do you like to drive the car hard?

I would be careful doing a flush on a trans with that many miles if a flush has never been done before. It's just asking for trouble.

why is it asking for trouble if i do a flusgh? i'm not sure if it has had a flush. i bought it when it had 61k

hey your s&s headers, where they made for your car or did you have them modified?

the headers are for a GrandAM, the only modfication to the headers is the flange is cut off at the bottom of the rear header. All the other mods had to be done to the car to make them fit.

One big thing is if you have a vavle seal issue, you have worn clutch material floating around in your fluid that may be sealing a leaky seal. A full flush will force any forgien material out of your trans and now that seal is leaking. You may, shortly after the flush, expierence slipping (normally on the 1-2 shift). Another issue is a flush pushing material into the vavle body passages and in around the check balls which can cause suttering and other issues depending on the passage in question.

If you have not kept up with normal flushes evey 20k or so I would reccomend a pan drop and filter change as opposed to a flush. The caveat to that is that even a pan drop may cause a problem (however there is much less of a chance).

Of course you may have no problem at all but most of the time on an older trans people will flush them (espically the t60) and within about 90 days they are looking for someone to rebuild it.

i once did a flush on a t65 and it didnt move afterwords. it jammed so much into the valve body it wouldnt go into gear. it ended up needing a full rebuild. because of that, the shop i work at doesnt do flushes anymore (except in rare cases were a pan drop can take several hours).

hey tell me more about the headers... who installed them for you?? if so how much did the labor cost.. what kind of modifications did u do to the car to make them fit???

how much did the s&s headers cost?

what did you do for an alternator pulley?
