any one know how to tell if......

so i got a getrag 282 in my car and i need to know how to tell if their is a lsd. am thinking i just got lucky and the trans i picked got a lsd in it. it does two wheel burnouts the same length guaranteed. when i had my bad tires it would send the front end striaght on a turn when breaking them loose. i jacked up one side and in gear you cant spin the tire. does this trans hold them together if so why would people spin the money on a lsd.

what is the proper way to find if their is a lsd without breaking it apart. this winter i want to rebuild it. all ready have the rebuild kit to do so, just lacking the proper tools to do it myself so i havent decided if its going in or not.

jack up both sides and spin one wheel, if the other side spins the same way then you may have a LSD. If so then it could be an aftermarket unit.


you have a better chance at winning the lottery than finding one of the factory LSD units from GM, pretty sure they were only put in the W41 HO cars and there was only 7 or so.



With equal traction on both sides of an open diff it will apply power to both wheels and leave 2 black marks.

Ok next test will be jacking both up and see what happens

does anyone know where i can get a replacement trans mount. its the mount that just rests on the subframe down by the driver side tire. i may just need to get a universal mount. my is splitting.

if nobody knows i might as well just buy this one and make it work.
