  • Question : 1993 4t60e to 1997 buick lesabre

Hi guys, new here. Im in desperate need of help. I recently swapped the trans in my 1997 Buick Lesabre from its 1997 4t60e to a 93 buick lesabre trans, also a 4t60e.

Upon test drive I noticed the car was stuck in 2nd gear. Never shifts to third but it doesnt hold the throttle at the rpm like being in second gear does. Also cooling fans are always on when the car is running.

First clues pointed to bad shift solenoid. So i went to the parts store and ran codes. Heres what I got:
P0713-Trans Fluid Temp Sensor A circuit High Input
    P0740-TOrque Conv. Clutch Solenoid Circuit/Open
    P0753-Shift Solenoid A Electrical

So all these signs are pointing to my pinout on my 97 being different than the pinout on a 93.

Upon a little research I found that swapping harnesses inside the trans would fix the problem. Thing is, I dont know how to swap them or what connections I need to make, vice versa. So if anyone could possibly give me 2 diagrams, a 97 4t60e pinout and a 93 4t60 pinout, I'd be so grateful.

Also, If it is just as simple as swapping the harnesses, can I do it without removing the trans from the car?
    Thanks again for any help,
    John

    Welcome!

See if any of these help you out: http://60degreev6.com/forum/showthre...s-and-Diagrams

I think the problem is, in 94-ish, the 4T60Es started interacting slightly more with the PCMs, therefore the older tranny probably doesn't have all the outputs that the 97 PCM is looking for.

Ouch, not what I was wanting to hear. I did read that the pin that uses pwm doesnt have to be hooked up, as its basically just a creature comfort, to shift smoother. Is this correct? That pin out diagram did help, any way you have one for a 97 trans? maybe just swap some wires and make it work? Thanks again, John
