  • Verify my transmission!

Can someone verify that my '01 Century indeed has the 4T65E transmission? I see that is what is listed on gmpowertrain.com, but don't know if that includes my '01 or not.

Now, if this is true, what needs to be done to my tranny to make it a 4T65E-HD?

You could always look at your tranny pan.....they have it stamped into them. But, you should have the 4T65E assuming you have the Series II 3800

Nope. The 3800 was never offered in the Century even in the NA form. I have a 3100. I'm not entirely sure that it's stamped on the tranny pan though.......

Not to sound totally ignorant, but where are the RPO codes located?

BTW, thanks to whoever moved this to the right location!

They should be in the trunk on your spare tire cover, or under your trunk lid.

Are you positive its not stamped on your pan? If there is nothing on the pan, then give a little description on where the ecm connector is pluged into the trans.

I have to change oil next weekend any way, but maybe I can get those RPO codes before then.

Comparing the 2001 Buick Century info here, to the GM powertrain info listed here, it appears that yes, you do have a 4T65E. The gear ratios listed on the 2001 Century info line up perfectly to the 4T65E info listed at powertrain. The 4T4xE and 4T80E are too different.

The Century isn't an N-body right? Anything bigger than an N-body usually gets a bigger, better tranny than the 4T4xE, even for 3x00s.

The Century is a W-Body like the Regals and GP's. Well, I think I'm good to go now with my whole project now (well, depending on what I do.... )

Okay, took a look at my tranny pan the other day and the only thing stamped on it is "M-4". Does that mean anything to anyone???

I believe I saw M-4 stamped on a 4T65-E trans before. So I looked it up on alldata and a 01 century has service bulletins on 4T65-E so I'm gussing thats what you have. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/07/010731IU.html
