  • Internal Slave Cylinder Leak

Hey Guys, Iam a newbie, Names Steve.. 1994 Cavalier Z24 5 spd 3400 swap
Long story Short i Replaced the Internal Slave cylinder 3 times Now!!!!! Dorman brand, Warrenty. the last time i replaced the master Cylinder,,, Everytime it leaks within 50 kms of driving. Now I had the flywheel resufaced when i did the Engine swap thats when this all started... Should i have added a Shim between the crankshaft and flywheel after resufacing??? Also the 3400 came with a dounut washer installed infront of the flexplate for the auto trans ,Should i install this in front of the manual flywheel or lose it?? Somethings Has to be causing this????? I can't see getting three bad parts in a row???? This time the part store gave me my money back on told me to take a hike?? So this time i ordered a wagner brand Slave!!!

I too had a brand new one start leaking (I forget the brand). I replaced it with a GM one with over 100k on it and all seems well so far.

As for shims, I use a small shim (.020 maybe?) and my flywheel has been ground at least twice. Shims are not very important for internal slave cars. You would need to have a crap load of meat shaved off your flywheel to allow the slave to over extend and leak.

I understand that you are probably really pissed, I was when I had to pull my tranny for a part that I bought new, just so I wouldn't have to replace it.
