  • Question : Need opinions on swapping in '07 4T65e-HD

I've done some quick research and am looking for any helpful info on swapping an '07 tranny into my '99 GTP. I found a broken forward apply band after talking to Dave @ TEP. Now I'm looking at putting in an '07 w/ 13,000 miles I found locally. From other forums I have been told that this can be done with modification to PCM for programming and of course adapting lines if necessary. I read of two others who said they had swapped newer, '04+ 4T65e-HD trans into their pre-'03 GP cars. I am interested in any thoughts or opinions about these newer trannys before I buy this weekend. Thanks for any help or advise.

If only it were that easy. As it is, I debated on trying to use JBweld on the pieace that is still attached to see if it would work for even a little while.

I got e-mail from Dave yesterday that said '07 works w/ '03 PCM and proper tuning. I'm calling the guy to hold the tranny today. TurboTim at ZZP says he can do the PCM.

I thought there were also wiring difference's in the plug.
I'm wanting to say 3 wires, two change pins and one gets grounded?
Not sure,on mine I simply am rebuilding my wifes 04 model trans with the upgraded HD parts from a core trans I have.
I had debated just putting in the HD trans (pre03 model) but for simplicity decided to stick with her factory trans.
I was simply swapping to an L67 at the time (from an L36),that was a couple months ago. Her convertor came apart two weeks later, trashed the pump.
I would go with the new trans, but check on the wiring difference's also-I really thought there was a wiring change needed for the swap.
