  • manual trans swap, how to fool pcm?

    I'm generously thinking about swapping in a 6spd from a G6 into my monte, the Fabrication part is nothing to me, but what do i do to fool the pcm so it thinks its in Drive, and opperates properly in every gear...? is this a simple tuning fix that can be done with Hp tuners or EFIlive?

    The search yeilded nothing so i thought i should just ask, i know people have swapped 5 spds into grand ams so this is basically the same princible.

    if/when you do this, please take pics of the fab work.... that(and lack of money) is what's delaying me from doing it to the 95MC.... i don't know if it would be something within my skillset.

    as far as getting it to work in the PCM, i am 99% sure something like HPT would be able to make the necessary changes to get this to work correctly.
    1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

      my 3500 swap is running on a 3400 pcm and all that done to "fool it is" i had all the cel codes reated to the auto tranny turned off.

        I am interested in this tread also... I just bought the reminder of the parts necessary to swap a 284 into my 95 Monte Z34 and I am curious as to what "wiring" will need to be done as a result so this thing functions properly.

          a 95 is tuneable, and has manual trans settings... though to trick the PCM, you could just wire the PRNDL switch into drive at all times...

            That doesn't always work so well... I've heard of some beretta guys who've done that and found some issues with it.

            The right thing to do is HP tune it and tune out all the Auto codes and stuff like that. And remove the p/n limiter. After that there is no need to tell the ECM its in D anymore.
