Hey all I just took out my 3.4 with getrag 5 speed out of my car and rebuilt it and then put it all back in and was ready for some fun when the clutch made a terrible noise.. apparently I neglected to put the release bearing in correctly. this one pulls the clutch springs instead of depressing them and i never hooked the bearing into place now it just flops around, looks like i get to take the whole motor and transmission out again..... By the way if you have the notion to buy a haynes or chilton manual for these cars .. DO NOT BOTHER they are both missing mountains of info on important procedures and each book is different in nearly every torque spec... one book will say 80 ft lbs the other will say 60 or 100 just buy a gm shop manual and save some time for you extra money

First, it is a pull style clutch so it is supposed to pull the springs. If you didn't latch the release arm into the bearing you do have to pull the tranny (aside from looking for damage). What you do is put the bearing onto the pilot shaft on the tranny and latch the release arm, attach the tranny and pry the release arm back from the access hole. You'll hear a snap and all will be well.

thanks for the info, I got it figured out now, pulled transmission the bearing was wrecked too since it was not in good, will wait for the new bearing and hten maybe put it back in correctly. from now on I will stick to my 99 GTP for speed and excitement and sell this money pit. thanks again for the tipwho designs this garbage
